The Delhi Capitals’ poor performance in the IPL 2022 season continues. Delhi, who began the season with a win over Mumbai Indians, have now lost their last two games. Rishabh Pant’s team was defeated by Lucknow Super Giants by six wickets on Thursday, following a 14-run defeat against Gujarat. After this match, Rishabh Pant’s batting has received a lot of flak. Pant hit three fours and two sixes in his 39-run innings against Lucknow in 36 balls. Pant also bowled Gautam’s 12th over maiden during the innings. In the first innings, Delhi had scored only 149 runs for the loss of only three wickets.
Virender Sehwag, observing Rishabh Pant’s batting approach, has predicted that this season will not be memorable if Pant continues to play like this.
“The concern is with the style with which he is playing,” Sehwag told Cricbuzz. It makes no difference whether you win or lose here. If he can change his mindset… Take a look at the number of balls he’s faced; he should have scored at least 60 runs in that amount of time. Lucknow would have paid the price if he had scored another 20 runs. I just don’t think he should change his mannerisms.”
“He should play more freely because the day he scores big, the team wins and everyone knows it,” the former Indian opener and former Delhi Capitals captain added. However, if he believes he is deserving of the position of captain. If Reason wishes to play responsibly, he will not be successful in this year’s IPL because he does not do so. He lacks the attitude required to play responsibly and finish the game. If he can, he should come and hit the ball. If he makes a mistake, he returns – that should be his attitude and it should be obvious.”
This target, set by Delhi, was met by Lucknow with two balls to spare, giving Lucknow a hat-trick of victories.
